More Done
So I'm sure at some point in your life you've heard someone say the phrase, "it's easier said than done." That's actually a very true statement. It doesn't take a lot of common sense to know that words are just expressions. Anyone can tell you what they're going to do or did do but the problem with this is, do you really believe them?
If it's someone you've built a relationship with then most likely yes, I mean I hope so because if not then what is that relationship worth? But besides that, picture this: imagine you're at a creative mixer (or really just any event you'd find yourself at) and you start making conversation with someone for the first time. You talk about a few things and before you know it you're listening to that person talk about all the cool things they're going to do. I don't know about you but I would be thinking, "ok I get it, this person is just trying to impress me and make it seem like they're really doing big things." Sure, I might think what this person has to say is interesting and maybe it's even true but the way it's coming across might be hindering. This brings me back to the one critical thing: do I even believe them and why should I? There's no real reason for me to believe this person especially when I know nothing about them.
Maybe this type of situation has never happened to you but my point is that it's so easy to talk about something and never do it. I believe action has a larger influence over words and that's why I'm introducing you to the phrase "More Done Than Said." To be honest it's much more than a phrase, it's a mind state that will increase your work ethic and drive. If you live by this then no one will be able to say you haven't worked hard for what you've earned. It might not be instant but people will eventually realize all the time and effort you've invested into yourself and others around you which will be a thousand times more valuable to them versus if you had just told them.
Quit talking about what you're going to do, instead remain humble and be about it. To the people that tell you "its easier said than done," show them what you're worth and start doing more. The worst thing you can do is have your heart set on an idea and not start somewhere. You will never make progress if all you do is talk and take no action.
All this being said, it doesn't mean you can't explain to others what you do or want to do because sometimes you have to speak up to get involved, but having something to show for it will stick out much more. Whatever you take out of this, I don't want you to be confused about what I'm saying. I think that there is a limit and right time for everything and it's up to you to determine what that fine line is.
I encourage you to write these phrases down somewhere and to think about them throughout your day:
